I hear you when you express your pain about the price compared to restoration cost. Good luck with the sale.

Above picture taken in Oklahoma BEFORE restoration, this is a rust-free car but the
paint faded so re-done to show quality with best quality PPG base/clear 5 years ago..

True... restoring a car nowadays costs a fortune, it's a labor of love. This model is pretty rare, only seen one other for sale in years. If it was a coupe it'd been gone long ago.
Sedans can be kind of ugly ducklings, but Holiday 4 dr hardtops are as
pretty as other models and you can actually use the back seat.!

You have to find the right market for a car like yours. I don't understand the four door prejudice either, but I've always operated under the credo "a nice old car is a nice old car". A lot of so-called "car people" don't.

I could enjoy a nice Holiday Sedan but if it came here to live on HydraMatic Drive I'd have to build another garage. That keeps my old car lust in check.

I know we've touched on this before, but I can't remember ... was Jetaway correct for '69? I had thought Turbo 350 but then recalled that it may have been transitioned in during the model year.

Very nice car. Best of luck with sale.

Jetaway was available part way through '69. It's strong, Powerglide has almost
no interchangable parts with Jetaway, but racers with PG could adapt Jetaway parts from V-8 cars that had additional clutches to handle extra power of larger race engines. Clutch drums and apply-piston in Jetaway/ST300 was often used to strengthen PGs for high performance purposes.

You have to be crazy to restore a car now (unless you do most of it yourself). I easily have over 20k just in the resto costs, even including favors from my body/paint friend and stocking up on NOS GM engine rebuild parts for years ago. People in the hobby for awhile know this. I think it's why "patina" is popular, restoration is unaffordable.

Ah, little brother to the notorious and treacherous KH750 H2. Kawasaki sure built some hotrod motorcycles back in the day. GLWS!

Oh well, c'est la vie!
I've always like the '68-'72 mid-size 4-door hardtops myself, especially the Pontiac Grand Lemans with skirts, which might get me a couple of frowns from the board. Nice color combo, & GLWTS!

Moving, prefer to sell but consider trade for 1965 to 1979 Olds 98 (or maybe 88) excellent original no rust great running condition. C-Body or B-body Olds easier to get in-and-out of, needs to be super nice.

Over $26K now in this '69 Cutlass.
Don't expect to recover it all, will consider a really nice 98 4 door in trade or part trade.
All Pics on PM request...

Some pics have the "Cutlass" emblems on the front fenders & some don't. Which is the current look of the car?
Also, is the sponge wedged at the upper hose there to remind you or the buyer to get busy with detailing the engine compartment? LOL!
I've commented before on the car, it's beautiful & GLWTS!

Probably!
to keep the hose from rubbing there, hasn't moved since engine rebuild
I didn't like how close it sat. All hoses/belts/radiator are new..

Emblems removed for paint job (some pics), now replaced.
with new Fusick repro emblems (GM approved).
Other chrome is original.
Thanks!

I didn't care about the engine compartment looks, just the mechanicals.
The emblems were't there after the paint job (some pics) but new Fusick ones have been put on the front fenders since.
All the other chrome is original, but those 2 were attached inside the inner fender a pain to get to, this was easier using
clips that push on from outside. Olds body shop trick.
I've reduced this car to less than 1/2 what's in it, a great deal for someone!
Thanks for your wishes.

Wonder if you could find a piece of that ribbed hose cover to replace the sponge. Or maybe a chunk of hose to cover that. Not trying to tell you what to do, but my '84 Cutlass has some sort of protection like that. Lord knows, you've done enough!

New radiator has no provision for hose guard.

Moving to Denver next year to be close to kids, must sell.
But keep looking at it in the garage and wonder why I'm selling,
will pay 2$k to move to Colorado if needed, wish younger generation was into old cars...

but that's not gonna happen.
I remember what it was that held the upper hose away from the radiator shroud on my '84 Cutlass. It was a plastic piece that wrapped around the hose & fastened into a holle in the shroud. Both pieces being plastic, after a few years, ( I owned the car for 27 years) it always would pop out of the hole so I used a black screw to hold it.
I'm in Minn., so I know all about cold weather & cars. My claim to dubious fame is bringing a '69 Mustang Mach 1 back to life from slush in the radiator, beyond filthy oil, a bad starter drive, plugs, points, & belts cracked so bad it was probably just as well she couldn't start the car. This was done with a bullet style kerosene heater 1/2 way out of a garage at -54 below zero. 3 days & success, although when we jumped the starter after rebuild it did start a nasty fire when a spark jumped into a pan of gas.
The fun of living in Alaska!

-54 below! Coldest we get in VT is about 25 to 30 below..
Minus 21 is coldest I can recall here in Central upstate NY.

The wife hit a deer once coming home from her night shift at the hospital in January 1982. Recall vividly replacing the fan & rad in the snow in our gravel driveway, 2 ft of snow on ground, temp 5 above, 20 mph wind. No garage until I was 40, what a relief as cars were kept outside under tarps, not good.

The Cutlass has a new rad from Summit, we don't want any more rad problems! But still kept the original radiator, now saved in the trunk.

Thanks Noel, very nice of you as always, still have the window fuzzy strips (not installed)
all other rubber on the car is new from Steele...$$$$. New radiator, hose clamp won't work with it unfortunately.

Due to age and move to Denver next Fall the car is still reluctantly for sale.
Might consider a larger Olds 98 or 88.

I know what you mean, Steele is high quality stuff. They are the only manufacturer for a lot of my Supreme Holliday Sedan weather-stripping. The only things we can't get from them is the weather-stripping for the wind wing vent windows and the body pillar sealing strips for the rear doors. Mine are still originals. Steele says they would be willing to make the wind wing weather-stripping if I want to pay @$30,000 for a mold. If you know of any other suppliers, let me know.
