Interesting car for a driver but the rust on the dash would worry me

Looks also like a repainted from white. There's also rust inside the rear parcel shelf and some rear trim is held onto the deck lid with screws. Makes me wonder what the floor and trunk pans look like.

I think I'd rather pay a little more to get a car that is actually rust free.

Wow rust free but has rust on the dash? I could be all wet,but I'm not seeing a 17k car myself.

Just adding to your comments
A few minor cosmetic flaws (see photos), but a great car to drive anywhere, especially to classic car shows.
Those are hardly minor cosmetic flaws. That's major surgery to either repair or replace the cowl.

Other than paint, pretty sure no body work has ever been done.
As evidenced by the 'minor cosmetic flaws'.

I noted also that the column shifter has a fair bit of rust and the retaining pin looks sketchy. It does have a 344 pedigree in it's VIN though.

Yup a rust free car, the rust has moved to the rot stage.
