1968 Oldsmobile 442 convertible (original 4 speed)
Hi All, I'm looking to sell my 1968 Olds 442 convertible. This is an original 442 convertible 4 speed car that at some point in it's life was converted to a TH350 automatic transmission with a console from an earlier 442. I know it's hard to identify if the car was originally a 4 speed but this is what I found. I first noticed the rubber boot for the clutch rod hanging in the engine compartment, and this lead me to notice the short, offset brake pedal. I then looked at the plate at the base of the steering column and from what I understand, this is different for manual transmissions as they retain the rubber boot and have holes for the clutch pedal rod (please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not an Olds expert). Then when replacing the carpet I found the original surround for the shifter, which was obviously put in at the factory, and had a plate screwed over it to cover the hole. The 400 ci engine is not numbers matching but the numbers show to be from a 1965 442 but has been rebuilt. A rebuilt original numbers correct carburetor to 1968 was also very recently installed. The OEM style black aluminum radiator is brand new. The front suspension is rebuilt last year and power disc brakes were added. The Goodrich tires and Hurst styled aluminum wheels are also new with very little miles on them. The interior is very nice with newly redone seats, door panels, carpet, quarter trim, etc. I also have a good replacement radio bezel for the broken one in the car. The drivers floor board has a screwed in patch repair and a small area on the lower right fender has a bubble under the 20+ year old paint, otherwise it is a very solid and rust free. I have pics of the floor boards from when I replaced the carpet as well as pics from under the car. The power convertible top works well but the top does have a rip in it. I hardly ever drive the car with the top up so I never took time to address it. The car is very dusty in the pictures from sitting in my garage. The previous owner owned it for 40 years before me and it mostly sat in his garage where it got the paint chips, scratches, etc while being stored. The car is not perfect but with paint and a top would be a VERY nice car. I checked the body with a paint meter and there appears to be little or no body work. The left tail light lens is broken and the gas gauge doesn't work even though I put in a new sending unit. I've tried to describe the car as accurately as possible and hope I didn't miss anything but I encourage you to come inspect and drive it yourself. It runs and drives fantastic. I didn't intend to sell her as I was super excited when I bought her but another vehicle has caught my eye (and yes 'squirrel' very much applies when it comes to me and cars) so it's time go. Please don't hesitate to ask questions and I encourage anyone to come have a look and go for a drive if interested in buying it. Car is in Sacramento, CA. $16,500 obo

Thanks. I'm having trouble adding pictures for some reason. They are really slow to upload and continually time out when doing so. I'll continue to try and upload more pictures but please don't hesitate to text me for more. I have lots of pictures. Thanks again!
