I agree Andy, It’s still a lot of cash but try restoring one today for that, especially after it sits in a body shop for 5 yrs 🤷‍♂️

Definitely …professional paint is a minimum of 20k, more like 35k, if you want show quality, then the D heads, TO rear end..The buyer didn’t steal it but he couldn’t build one like that, that nice and all for anywhere close to 55k. I believe there is a very good chance it was a true w30, but can’t be proven, none the less finding the correct heads and rearend would be a treasure hunt and cost you 7-8 grand not installed..If I had the space, I think I would have bought it at 55 just because that was my high school car. Mine was blue, not aqua, white interior ,blue drop top 4 speed car..So yes, I would have paid for that nostalgia ..of course as my wife says, buy one sell one..so something would have had to go..lol

One thing that blows me away is that the seller never drove the car. What a joke. I just don't get it. Why own it??

Some people just don’t drive their cars..To some it’s an investment, others it’s like art. Many just want to get the car to perfection and keep it that way. Some aren’t physically able to drive a 4 speed torque monster with old school brakes any longer..who knows why but it’s their money. I choose to drive my cars, but that’s me..I take my w30 to the gym, Home Depot, grocery store etc. it’s not a restored garage queen. It’s just a very nice original car, yep, I light the back tires up and run it thru the gears. If I had it concourse restored I probably wouldn’t do that..

Agreed. To each their own. I just personally don't get the appeal. Like you said just an investment.

More fun than tax-free municipal bonds.
