Can you estimate how many 1966 Oldsmobile 88 2HT Holiday coupes were produced with vinyl tops in this year?
I think the year 1966 was the first for the 88 series to allow this accessory.
In general, I saw photos of only 3-4 cars on the Internet, all of them had black vinyl. According to the period Sales Brochure that I have available for this year, white vinyl was officially on offer and even for this body shade .. a rather rare combination.
The car is already at my place and is waiting for a suitable time for inspection (brake cylinder replacement, carburetor adjustment, spark plugs, etc. :-) finally home Photo 2021 (in US) incorrectly assembled choke rods (must be repaired)
Vinyl roof cover was first available in 1963, only for 88 2-door hardtops, then available on all 88 and Ninety Eight body styles starting 1965. Cutlasses got the option in 1966.
No idea how many VT jobs there were from 1963-66 as I don't remember them being common until 1967.
Two-tone paint option used the same moldings as vinyl roof and was more common.
It may be assembled correctly. Here's pictures from the 1966 service manual.
And the 2GC adjustment chart. Sorry it's sideways- the first two tries it posted upside down🙄
on my next 1966 Olds 88, the top rocker is correct .. correct from service manual This is correct "tang" .. I don't know what the reverse installation can cause
