1966 442 4 Speed EBAY...

Just thought I would post. Although I was under the impression actually im quite certain that F85 Deluxe were never offered in buckets, although that pattern looks correct for a bench it is also correct for an F85 Sport Coupe. Nice car though, I will def be bidding. I wonder what he will let her go for.

Oh, and I'm glad to see he put in a 442 radio........

Yes Cutlass Sports Coupe. I sent this guy an email informing him I cant wait to see what he has to say about it. I also asked to see the data plate, but being from WA I assume its a Fremont car.

He just posted the trim tag/data plate and its def a real 442 with an original 4 speed only thing changed is that the buckets were added in lieu of the bench. Ironic I have a perfect black bench with the right pattern for that car. Hope he gives me a buy it now price.

Appears to be a nice car, I do not like the heater hose routing over to the fenderwell and back....easy fix. Also front grill center emblem looks a little high and center bar bowed..... This maybe camera angle or just the way it is supposed to be. Might want to ask about body repairs/previous rot/rust/bondo etc. It is nice to know whats under the sparkle. If you end up with it I wish you good times!

Scam - Saw this same approach on a few other cars. Bet "David" is really 'Emma and Ralph Mueller". NO ONE just drops the price 10large because the car didn't sell, they re-list. The whole purpose of getting bids is probably to offer 'second chances' to get ripped off
I'm betting the car isn't even his. Ask if you can fly out to see and inspect it in person. Probably will be told it's in a storage warehouse and already packed for shipping so you can't do that. Don't walk away - RUN, RUN FAST FORREST!!!!!

Allan, I figured for sure a scam I just wanted everyone else to see this to. What a shame we dont have honest people anymore and today 90% of the time a handshake isn't worth the sweat that was tranferred hand to hand. I emailed this guy extensively to inform him that the buckets were never available on the f85 deluxe and he kept avoiding my emails, finnally he stated that he believes it was special order, yea bullshit. I can bet anything that this data plate on this car is a repop with the 5v and also its prob got a parrish/pontiac frame as apposed to the 442 A.O smith.

Its probably a real car and was in a real ad but a scammer is making a fake ad. I had this happen to my 40 Ford a few years ago. I sold it on Ebay for 17000.00 3 months later a buddy called a said I thought you sold your 40' I said I did. He told me there is a buy it now in ebay right now for $9000.00 I went and looked at the ad and it was my exact ad pictures and all.

Well its just ashame that its gotten to bad. I still remember the days of finding a car in the local paper and having no pictures just the owners description and driving across the state to see the car. I love todays technology but I certainly will never forget the good old days.

Nine times out of ten, I do not buy a car for the car, but for the adventure that goes along with it and the people I meet!

Car is on Ebay right now, reserve not met at 13K, same guy who listed it as before. As far as the buckets go, seller states in the ad (as before) that:
And of course he provided an image of the cowl tag info; which does indicate it was originally a becnh seat car. Not sure what more he is supposed to say. I had a '66 4 speed AC car (AC sure looked like a factory install) that didn't have the cowl code indicating AC; wondered if it was dealer added (apparenlty this was possible back then, to result in a factory-appearing instal). Alternatively, it was added later perhaps when the car was restored, or the cowl tag was wrong (a subsequent owner added a fake cowl tag to "hide" a color change, and interestingly neglected to add the AC code, so now all bets are off). Point is, these discrepancies are often mysteries, and an owner 45 years after the fact can't know the full story for sure.
There have been some quetions regarding the bucket seats original to the car because its a F-85. All I know it matches the rest of the interior perfectly and when they put the new carpet in they said the interior was original. So you be the judge what I can say it looks stock and is very nice.

The guy has 100% positive feedback from 257 transactions.
I pulled his closed auctions and its a veritable treasure trove of muscle car parts. Here's the link: http://feedback.ebay.com/ebaymotors/...edbackAsSeller
Look at some of the positive feedback for these parts:
1). 1960 Chevy 348/409 Tripower Intake with Carbs and linkage/Air cleaners (#280783191511)
2) Oldsmobile : 442 (#280536651237) (with a 14k sales price)
3) 442/ OLDSMOBLE STEERING WHEEL 68THRU72 (#280232761643)
4) 1966 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Distributor Very Rare!!!! (#280223379729)
I don't know the seller, but based on his feedback numbers (quantitative) and the comments from those sales (qualitative), I'd say he looks legit.
Good luck with your efforts. This looks like a car worthy of the effort.

The procedure is simple:
I start the transaction on eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection
They send you an invoice with all necessary details.
You send the money to them
They confirm that they have received and secured the money..
I ship the car.
After you receive, inspect and decide to keep the car you will confirm to
eBay that everything is ok so they can send me the money.
This way we are both protected and we will have a smooth transaction...
As soon as you give me your shipping address I will set up the
transaction.
Thanks
David

Current Ebay car is in Washington state.
"salandflo@comcast.net" is an E-mail address used by a member of this forum (cutlasslegend):

ON EDIT: I see my mistake...but you should post the E-mail of the guy...I'd guess its not the currrent seller on Ebay.

If they are asking for $7000.00 then its a scam period. Someone is using real seller info and trying to make a scam. When it happened to me on my 40' Ford they had my email address as a clickable link in there ad but when you right clicked and hit properties it was taking to a completely different persons email.

I will send all the correspondence to the original ebay seller and see if its the same guy. Chances are he will be in about as much shock as I was when he told me 7000 and you can have the car.

No Idea. I emailed the original seller during the auction but maybe they did see it on here and he noticed that I was very interested in the car. Ladies and Gentlemen I am saddened to say that we may have a mole somewhere here on classicoldsmobile.
