1966 442 4-Speed "Barn Find" (NOT MINE)
Thought I'd pass this along to the group. To my untrained eye, it looks original. Could be a sweet ride if the right person gets ahold of it.

Wow, that car is sweet. Headrest seats, correct vacuum gauge on the console, sidewinder tach. Price is a little high, but that's not an unreasonable asking price to start negotiations. If I didn't already have a 66 convertible, I'd be all over that.
No worries Eddie
I'm not a 66 guy but it sure is tempting. I was wondering about the head rest. I guess that was an option in 66?
Yeah nice colors, console, 4spd, buckets, tach, 390 posi. Price a bit high and hopefully the surface rust doesn't go all the way thru, hood, fenders, quarters.... My latest 442 post 4spd project was purchased for 4500, I would say this one is a 6500 dollar car max, at least in my book.
Yep, pretty much exactly where I was going. If I were really interested, I'd let the ad ride for a repost or two, until the seller finally realized that $9800 was a bit much. Unfortunately it looks like it needs patches in the rear quarters, at a minimum.

as well as the trunk looks a little funky in those two spots... geez I wish I were retired and didn't have a project LOL...
Cool car for sure.. the rust issues look a lot deeper than surface to me.. just looking at trunk, one has to wonder what the frame, floorboards and all look like, ad says solid but no pics. Be a stunner when done, however it would take some serious jack to do it right, dented, rusted etc. Bumpers, chrome plating and all be a big check just for bright work. Hopefully someone can grab it at that 6k range and go to town on it.. weird how nice the interior still is, beautiful. Curious whats the deal on the engine, spun bearings or something?

Wow... reminds me of its near twin I found in a Blairsville Ga junkyard back in the early nineties. Someone beat me by a week for all the 442 unique trim parts (limited repros back then) and the dash tach. Had a perfect white body and red bucket seat interior. I often wondered what became of it, and hoping it was saved.

sorry to much quarantine time LMAO
Cool , But Very Rusty!
I like the interior, and the headrests are nice, rare!
Maybe get it running, make safe- drive as is. would get alot of attention!

Actually it was perfect the way it was. Most 66s had 4bbls. Its getting as bad as adding w25 hoods to every 70-72 car. I tried to get that car but it sold in two days. Perfect car to restore, nothing had been changed except the hoses.
Perfect for you with a 4 bbl, perfect for me with a tri carb set up. It was definitely all there, but i guarantee you the nasty rust we saw in pics got real ugly when blasted to metal, if money was no object it would be a wonderful restoration as it has a couple options not readily seen..tach and headrests.. if it was a tru L69:car it would def be worth the 9800..however by the time running gear is all rebuilt ( engine froze) panels replaced, rust fixed properly and all the bright work replaced or polished etc you will have spent over 50k easily..unless you can do 99% yourself. Heck professional paint and body on that car in that shape would exceed 30k. With that said, somebody bought it..so I hope to see the restoration on this site.. Oldsmobile may have only sold 2000 L69 cars but nobody knows how many over the counter set ups were sold..and seems unless you have pop from original owner or a original manifest, there is no way to really tell..heck how many people have stamped the T on the end of the head of a regular 442 since then? I have no problem with a recreation as long as its stated as such..I am putting tri carb on my 66.. perfect candidate, factory 4 speed car, No power brakes, no ac, basic car.
