1965 oldsmobile 98 for sale

It has 61,000 original miles, the paint is new. The interior is very original, the A/C works but will need to be charged.

Engine and trans. are very strong, no known issues.

Power seats and power windows all in working order.

This car is used as a daily driver and very well cared for. No rust, strong original floors.

6500 OBO

Give me a call or text with any questions at all.

It's only been one day, I hope that you weren't thinking that buyers would be beating a path to your door. It's a nice car, I think that the price is fair.

Your asking price is really in line with what the price guides say. The Old Cars Price Guide says the value of a '65 98 4-door in "car show" but not showroom condition is just under $7,000.

From your photos and description, you have a pretty good-looking car, although the engine bay hasn't been cleaned or detailed at all.

So your $6,500 price is very fair I think.

I have three comments.

1. You only started this thread yesterday. It would be great if we could sell cars in one day, but it's not common.

2. Your car is a full-size Olds, and those are a step below the Cutlasses in terms of popularity.

3. Your car is a four-door, and those are always at the bottom end of desirability even within a particular model.

So, as nice as the car is, you've got some things working against you. My advice is patience. Advertise it widely (more than just here--craigslist at least). Expect it to take some time.

Post A LOT more photos, clear and detailed, from all angles. You have five there, but one is only of the odometer, which, while showing the car's mileage, doesn't really help much. Another two dozen wouldn't hurt. Consider making a photobucket, flickr, or picasa web album and provide a link to it.

I do think a buyer is out there for you.

One other comment. It may be just me, I know this is a matter of taste, and I know they're easily changed, but those plain-jane wheelcovers do absolutely nothing for the car. With the nice, new paint job, it's like someone put on a brand-new tuxedo but then slipped on a pair of worn, scuffed loafers.

A set of correct 98 wheelcovers in all their glory would do wonders for the car's appearance. The car IS a 98, after all!

I'd put them on and take more photos.

Again, it's a matter of impression, but when I first see a car dressed the way yours is now, I immediately think "low end." My eye is immediately drawn to the wheelcovers, which look like those anti-shoplifting mirrors you see (or used to see) in drugstores. It takes a moment to realize that the car is actually a top-end model in all other respects. But that first impression lingers.

I'm with Jaunty. More and better pics for sure and definitely put the OEM wheelcovers back on. The car looks mostly original otherwise so having original covers on just makes it look more "un-touched" which is very appealing when buying an older car. Ninety Eights are absolute cruisers and yours has a great look to it but it's a luxury car the current wheelcovers don't do it any justice.

Really nice car and I agree that your price seems fair...without seeing the car in person that is. Good luck with the sale.

Quick questions:

Where is the car located and was it originally black or green possibly?

Car is located in South Florida, and yes, it was originally green.

those are definitely better pics and it looks WAY better with the OEM wheelcovers. ( I prefer it without the tint as well but I'm sure it's expected in south Florida!)

I agree with everyone above. It's an altogether different and much better looking car with those correct wheelcovers on it. Good luck on the sale. It's a nice car. It should sell.
