Today I am offering up my 65 Delta 88 Holiday Hardtop Sedan.
For over a year now this car has been my pride and joy.
It's rarity and class have kept me motivated in this restoration.
Classicoldsmobile.com has helped me convert the exhaust from single to a custom dual... among many other things. Below is a list of what I have done to the sedan as well as features for this year. The 5 digit odometer reads 18,xxx, but I have a hard time believing it is 218k miles. It would be accurate to say the motor/transmission have 118k miles based on running condition. Vin # 358395C120178 I have a Clean California Title. No Accidents. I'm open to offers, but I would like to get $6,500. I was offered $4,500 by a fellow who saw my car at the shop and loved it.

The brake cylinders, shoes, drums and hubs are new. The belts, distributor, wires, spark plugs, transmission gasket, power steering pump, oil pump, water pump, timing chain and timing cover, fluids, headers, exhaust system, headliner, windshield, and paint...are all new.

Runs phenomenal, sounds incredible and has a ton of power. The custom dual exhaust is louder between 40-50mph then becomes very quite after 50. A work of art. With all the windows down it's like a hardtop convertible. More solid than any new car made and gets thumbs up everywhere. Such a great cruiser with with tons of space. All the glass is great, windows all work and all the lights work for night driving.
Has special triangle vent windows up front.
What I would say it needs next is interior upholstery, front and rear suspension with alignment, tires, and then little things like reattach the turn signal bracket, order a new blower fan...re-chrome the rear bumper ect.

The 1965 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 Delta Holiday Sedan, with a 425 cubic inch (7.0L) Super Rocket V8 engine, 4-bbl. carburetor, rated at 360 hp., and 470 ft. lbs. of torque. For 1965, GM offered a new lineup of 88’s. The Super 88 was dropped after 64, and the Dynamic 88 became the top of the line 88 model (previously the mid-range 88 model), while the Jetstar 88 continued as the entry level 88. New for 1965 was an all new trim level on the Dynamic 88, the Delta trim package. The Delta was offered in 3 models, Holiday Sedan (hardtop), Holiday Coupe (hardtop), and Celebrity Sedan (pillared). The Delta series also offered a more plush interior than the standard Dynamic 88 series. Interior included more luxurious door trim with carpeted lower door treatment, higher level seating surfaces, a notchback bench seat (on Holiday models) – bench on Celebrity Sedans. The Delta series exterior included a wide chrome rocker molding (from front to rear) with chrome wheel opening moldings. Options over the base Dynamic 88 model also included an upgraded dash shared with the Ninety-Eight Series.

I sold my 1965 Delta 88 sedan (2 owner) and similar in condition to yours for $1100. My original price was $1500.

You have a really nice car, 4 doors do not command much.

A little disappointing.
I thought she was worth more than that...
I put $800 into the brakes hubs drums and shoes last week.
Someone has to appreciate her as I did when I started all this work..

 

No one will appreciate the car the way you do. To everyone else, it's just a car.

One thing to learn right off the bat in this business is that there is exactly a zero relationship between what you spend to fix up a car and what it's ultimately worth.

You could spend $5,000 on a paint job on a car that was worth, say, $1,000, and it might raise its value to $2,000. But it would be very unlikely to raise it to $1,000 + $5,000 = $6,000. And this is true for anything you do to the car, not just paint.

The purpose of getting into the old car hobby is to enjoy fixing up the car and then enjoy driving it once you're done. The purpose is most certainly not to make money.

 

Best words ever used to describe the old car hobby for the majority.

 

It's a classic, not many around and the last thing I'd do would be sell it for scrap (i.e. $2,000)

This isn't a 1989 Suzuki Swift...it's a classy Oldsmobile worth more than what you suggest. But thanks so much!
