1957 Olds 88 2 dr J2 tri-power

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I just wanted to see if there is any interest in a car my dad has and was working on. Unfortunately he passed away back in February. It's a 1957 Olds 88 2 dr with a 371 J2 tri-power. It doesn't have the factory air cleaner, but the car is all there. Car is solid, no rust. Trunk, floor, rockers, and quarters rust free. Before parking it, he had started to repaint the car, so the car is somewhat taken apart, but the car is complete and all there. Been garaged for the last 15 years plus. Not sure what to ask for a price...I'm thinking around 10,000.00 but not sure and that's why I'm on this forum to get some idea of what it is worth.
Not interested in trading.

Very solid looking car. Sorry for your loss. I'd put this car at a #5. Restorable for sure and needs everything. Has the chrome work been done? Has the interior been done correctly? Do you know if there is an itemized list of all the parts and you can easily locate where in the garage or house they are? I assume none of the mechanicals have been done? Meaning brakes, motor, trans, rear end, etc? If you don't need it gone anytime soon and you KNOW you have all the parts to put it together, MAYBE if the right guy comes along you could get 10K. My hunch is a more realistic number is around 5K. GLWTS

Thank you for the info. Yes all the parts are there. The interior was done years ago…everything… engine, trans are original. New brakes wheel cyl and drums and new tires before putting it away. I can get it running again. We drove into the garage, but hasn’t ran for a little bit. I’ve had a few people tell me that the 371 J2 tri-power by itself is worth 3-4000.00 Not really sure if that’s true or not. That’s why I want some help from this forum. Only reason I put 10,000.00 price on it is because I didn’t have a price on the first post and admin deleted it. Price is negotiable.

Can’t say for sure on the J2 setup price. I would think at that price it would need to be brand new restored eat off it clean but maybe someone more familiar with that side of the market can chime in?

I believe if the J-2 setup was going to bring that much money, it would have to be all rebuilt and have the original air cleaner.

I can tell you that whoever told you they are worth $3,000-4,000 is not well informed. Don't believe the prices on Ebay either. I have bought TWO J-2 set ups without air cleaners for a fraction of what someone told you what they are worth. One set was "used" and the other set had the carbs rebuilt.
Did that person tell you the J-2 set up ONLY fits two years...1957 and 1958 371 engines ?
