This is a 1951 Oldmobile 98 Holiday Coupe VIN 519C10126 and a clear Michigan title for $6,000.
It has the original 303 Rocket engine and an illegible odometer.
This car was made in Kalamazoo then was sold in Southern California where it stayed until I bought it in 2014. I have the sales and ownership history with some original documents frim 1952. It was stored indoors here in Michigan except that first year I had it.
The car is super solid and complete except the hydraulics for the seats and power windows. The intent was to convert these to 12v electric along with the rest of the car.
It's complete, but also a complete project. There is not rust restoration to do, but will need paint, upholstery, engine work, wiring... everything. The engine was running when I got it, but froze up in storage. I started working through it and pulling things apart to remove the engine for either a rebuild or at least overhaul but simply don't have the time or skills to make it happen.
The photo of the engine bay was before I started working on the engine. The intake manifold, heads, exhaust manifolds, oil pan, grill, and hood are currently off. Let me know whether you want it back together or not.
When it took me a month to remove a piston (it took me an hour, but a month to make the time...) I realized this isn't my project.
Man that can be make into a gorgeous car. It looks really solid and no rust is a big deal. If I was a younger man and had the space I would be all over this. I think your price is very reasonable. I think this car will be gone pretty qickly. GLWS.
I was quite set back after viewing the pictures too, and especially how well the trunk lid fit! Strange what things each one notices. How often does a '51 surface in such a stellar condition?
I agree with all of you. What a kick butt starting point. Great price too. I don't see this lasting long. As was said. When is the last time you saw a 51 this clean?
