Windshield - small scratches

hi
I wanted advise on how to remove scratches on front windshield. Seems someone had tried buffing and scratched it so when I drove off into the sun set I can’t see at all.

Is is there a “solution” to remove vs. replacing the whole thing?

Glass can be polished with Cerium Oxide. Make a paste with water and buff carefully (and cleanly--you saw what happened with poor polishing compound or dirty compound). Keep the paste moist so you don't heat the glass and crack it.

Trying this at home is difficult due to the depth and width of the scratches. This may take hours and not fully clear up. Call a local glass company, the technology has advanced thru the years with scratch removal. Now they have entire scratch kits which remove scratches quickly. Glass company's use them often due to the high volume of delivered scratched and blemished glass. Its much more efficient to remove the scratched area rather than return the glass for another which may also be scratched. Most vehicle owners have no idea the windshield in the vehicle they drive may have been scratched or blemished. What the consumer doesn't know won't hurt them. It doesn't take away from the integrity of the glass either. Unless the scratches are really deep then the windshield would need replaced anyway. What the cost is for labor may vary.

Hope this Helps
Sean.
