1k442 bad buyer BEWARE

Had a sale completed and payment received waiting for address to ship wheels to. He then decided as I'm about to ship them now he doesn't want them. BEWARE if this guy he will back out and ask for his full payment back. He backed out because he sees other wheel companies can ship flat rate cheaper and thinks anyone can get that same deal. I feel like he should hold up his end of the deal. Admins please help.

If you can substantiate through texts or emails for example the the deal was complete then you both have entered into a contract, and as long as you will uphold your end of the deal (ship the parts as soon as you have a delivery address) then keep the money. It's yours.
If I buy something and later decide I wish I hadn't then that's my problem, not whoever I bought from.

Roger.

Now for the real information!
He has my money and my address. I asked if he could check the shipping. I see used (4)15" Olds wheels shipped to me for $85. Here is his reply to me.

"Companies have and can get discounted and cheaper rates. I have tried to do so but I am not a company nor have access to a companies shipping number. Do you still want the wheels or no? I don't see an address to where to send them. I will hold off until I hear back from you."

To me he was asking me if I want the money back. I said sure. Then he went nuts. Not sure why? He now has the money and my address. Just ship them! I am not sure why this guy went nuts? I am paying shipping for two wheels from Michigan to Maryland is $106!

After this post I am not sure if I should deal with him. We will see what the wheels look like.

After much consideration I have decided not to do business with 1k442. I am not interested in doing business with a person like this. Other sellers and or buyers please beware of this person. It is not worth the hassle and any other possible B.S from this person.

Even though the real facts of the communication are not public, it looks as though it was offered to cancel the order/sale??? Shipping costs on wheels can sometimes double the cost of the wheel, depending on the wheel, which can make selling wheels tough. I don't think this an "East Coast Scam" but rather a conflict with shipping costs. Either way, I don't believe this should have a negative out come for either the buyer or seller!

Seller: Still has his wheels, no harm!
Buyer: Still has his money, either no payment or refund, no harm!

I buy and sell a fair amount of wheels. Shipping depends on a lot of factors, but it basically boils down to:
The dimensions of the box
The weight of the boxed wheel
The distance from seller to buyer
Insurance

$106 from Michigan to Maryland isn't outlandish if the boxes are larger than they need to be, the wheels are heavy, the insured value is high, and the choice of time involved. Companies offer free shipping because a lot of companies have the wheels drop-shipped from the manufacturer, or in the case of Jeg's or Summit, anything over a specified sale amount automatically triggers free shipping.

You do not have to be a company to ship threw Fastnal. Last time i checked $75. for a small pallet no weight limit. JMO

I am from NJ and ran into this guy today 1K442 at the Carlisle swap, and he seemed ok and there were no sellers chasing or yelling at him so I just don't know... but I did not try and sell him anything.

I as well happened across this rather large man at Carlisle with a thick jersey accent...reminded me of Tony Soprano.

My $.02
seller should have parts packaged and ready to go so dimensions are available and can quote reasonably accurate shipping before consummating a deal so there are no surprised. $106 is more than I would have expected to pay to ship two wheels.

"This is a collect call from Mr. Floyd to Mrs. Floyd, do you accept the charges from the United States?....He hung up....Hello, this is the United States, are we reaching?....He hung up again....there's a man answering, someone must be there besides your wife."

I think I got that mostly right.
