Wilwood´s master cylinder...

I figured out that my brake-booster on my 65 442 is bad.

Is it possible to use "only" Wilwood´s master cylinder

instant of buy new booster to save a little weight.

Read that this master cylinder eliminates the use of a booster but is this really true....?

thanks

I had my power brake booster rebuilt by Booster Dewey. The turn around time was aproximately 1 week, and the price was very fair considering what an exchange booster costs at the auto parts store. They don't usually have cores on the shelf, so you will need to send yours to them. They are able to handle most any brake booster that is know to man (or woman). If you want it to look like the day it left the factory, they can do that also. Just takes a little longer, and additional $$$$.

Wilwood master cylinder

I have a 71 Cutlass. I have installed the Wilwood kit. 6 piston front, 4 piston rear. Wilwood master and proportioning valve. The problem I'm having is the master cylinder is draining the front bowl to the back bowl. I keep losing the brakes. The bowl keeps sucking air. The master cylinder is at an angle in this car. I need help with this.

Unbolt the master cylinder from the brake booster, and look for your missing brake fluid. I'll bet that the master cylinder is leaking into the booster, and it is being sucked into the engine through the vacuum hose, and burned. Fluid just doesn't go missing, it has to go somewhere. Either that, or you have a very bad leak somewhere in the system. I am still betting on a bad master cylinder.

What type of brakes do you have now? Stock four wheel drum, or converted to disc? If so, factory disc or aftermarket?

If you have stock drums or a stock disc conversion, I'd simply buy a factory replacement manual brake M/C. RockAuto sells rebuilt stock manual brake M/Cs for about $30.
