Who sells brake booster rebuild parts?
I'm hitting a wall on this one. I'm trying to find a source for the internal parts needed to rebuild the Morraine power booster on my 64 Vista. I know lots of places will rebuild it for me, that's not what I want. I need to swap the pushrod to use a dual circuit M/C, and since the booster needs to come at least partly apart to do that, I figured I MIGHTASWELL rebuild it at the same time (plus it hisses and doesn't provide much boost). Unfortunately, I've been unable to locate a source for parts. I've found Corvette specialty houses that sell internal parts for Vette boosters, some of which may be the same on other Morraine boosters, but since people rebuild these, someone has to sell the parts.
In what, the booster or the kit?
Those are all the rubber and plastic parts in the booster. There are obviously metal parts that get reused. The reality is, however, that the booster is really just a big metal can with this diaphragm in it. Manifold vacuum is used to evacuate the front and back sides of the diaphragm. When you step on the brake pedal, the back side of the diaphragm is vented to atmosphere, so you get a pressure differential across the diaphragm that is the source of the brake assist. Release the pedal and the vent valve closes, allowing the backside to return to manifold vacuum and removing the assist.
