Vacuum pump install results

My car only has 14-15" vacuum and the power disc brakes were not stopping the car like it should. I installed a vacuum pump supplied by MasterPowerBrakes. Car now has 26"+ of vacuum and brakes work like a new car. Pump is quiet enough not to hear above sound of running engine and small enough to mount in cavity behind battery. Now I can run a bigger cam and would recommend to anyone.

Carry extra fuses with you for it - a blown fuse may leave you essentially without brakes, without warning.

Happened to me on a Bandit brake pump that I tried out a few years back - great piece, quiet and worked very well for a few weeks.

One day approaching a stop sign, found I had just about no brakes and barely able to stop before blowing into the intersection. I had fuses on hand and that corrected the problem for the ride home, at which point I removed the unit.

Does the pump run constantly or on demand?

You will still have brakes. You just won't have power assist. Power brakes work when the engine isn't running.
