Steering box flush

Hi folks,

Had steering pump off the car for resto. I think water got into the steering box holes where the high and low pressure lines went. How do I flush the box? I didn't see a drain plug but didn't go all the way under.

I don't want to have water in there. Just sounds like a bad idea to me.

Thanks,
James

couldn't you attach the hoses and pump fresh fluid into one side? put the other hose into a drain pan, wouldn't think it would take much pressure...

I have never done it just thinking out loud, I think the new fluid would force the old fluid out the other tube, when the fluid looks all good, perhaps switch the hoses and try pumping from the other tube as well... I am sure someone will chime in.

You answer is correct Eddie. Use the starter disconnect the coil wire so it does not start. Turn the wheel back and forth should clear quickly
