Question Primary vs. secondary shoe-location

I have a 1970 Chassis Service Manual that I am using to rebuild my drum brake (all 4) system. It is not clear in the photo provided in the manual regarding which shoe (primary with smaller pad surface area or the secondary) location. The picture (fig 5-4 in the manual) does not tell you if it is a left or right side view.

I believe that the view is left side and that the primary shoe goes towards the front of the vehicle for all 4 wheels. Am I right?

yes, that is correct. the primary shoe is always installed facing the front of the vehicle.
