Master Cylinder Rebuild

Rebuilding my original master and after getting everything apart, the cylinder bore looks fine. Unit was taken off with no failure and there are no scratches or rust pits of note (just a lot of crapola which has been cleaned out).

Just wondering if this condition merits a hone or not. Don't want to play around with the brakes on my 2 ton pride and joy.

Thanks for your input.

if you're set on putting a kit in it I would for sure hone it. there's a chance pits will be evident after honing.

I looked into rebuilding mine until I found out how cheap exchange units are from re-builders. The one for my 1966 98 cost me $35 after core exchange. Came with warranty and already had a stainless sleeve installed in the bore.

The only reason I am rebuilding is the master is my original (w/ part # & serial # etc.).

Also I like the satisfaction of turning junk into something worthwhile. That and getting greasy keeps me going! Lol!

Mine didn't have any serial number on it but the one I got was identical to the one I took off.
