Manual to Power brakes???
My 65 cutlass has manual brakes and I would like to convert to power brakes. Seems to me like a simple project but I have never got into power brakes before. I found a member with a booster and master cylinder for sale. Is that all that's needed other than vacum connections?
Thanks

Hello Mike, welcome to the site! I'm not sure you even need to swap the master cylinder if your sticking with drum brakes in the front. Most front brake upgrades people do add disc brakes on the front. Or if you want to keep the drums changing to the 1967 style master cylinder to give you a different reservoir for the front and back brakes. I believe all you need to do to get the safety of the 1967 and newer style master cylinder is get the brake lines from a 1967. But if your wanting to keep the car all original just swapping the booster should work. I know the newer cars have the booster attached to the pedal in a different location. I'm not sure about 1965 but you may want to check and see if there are two holes in the pedal arm where the rod from the master/booster attaches. John
