Firewall question for power brake conversion kit 1950's oldsmobiles
Hi, I'm in the process of developing firewall mounted power brake conversion kits that bolt to the driver side firewall of 1954 to 1957 oldsmobiles. Ive been able to get my hands on a 1957 olds 98 and a 1955 olds 88. It appears the 88 and 98 have slightly different firewall bolt patterns.
I'm hoping someone can give me some insight into whether all 1954 to 1957 olds firewalls are the same for each of the two models or if there are changes amongst the years? Pictures below are of the two slightly different firewall plates. From what I have googled and seen online this is correct but hoping to hear from someone with experience.
Thanks!!
Jacob
Olds eighty eight- is this the same for 54 to 57?

98 and 88 are the same car from the A pillar forward for 54- 56 probably the same on a 57 but it's been 30 years since I had a 57. 57 was a major body change for Oldsmobile so many things changed on that model year, 58 also had a lot of sheet metal changes.... Tedd

54 olds power brake conversion
Greetings, If I understood an earlier thread correctly, you were working on a kit to add an aftermarket power vacuum unit on 54-57 Olds. Did you? Do you know of any that are "doable" and reliable? Thanks in advance for your help. Gawain

The plate shown is just a re enforcer stiffener for the defroster box so a modern booster and power brake cylinder can be added without flexing. There is still modifications that will be needed to complete the job like different mounts for new swing peddles and you will need a disk brake set up. If defroster box is omitted then you loose your defroster of course..... Tedd
