brake lights stay on

Every now and then i will exit my car and notice the brake lights are stuck on. It's even drained my batter before when i didn't notice it.

I've replaced the brake light switch and still have the same problem, is there any adjustment I can do on the pedal, it seems to have some play in it.

Car is a 1965 Jetstar 88, single master cylinder, manual brakes.

Thanks

Sounds like your brake light switch is adjusted wrong.

How far do you need to push down the pedal before the lights come on?

If the brake light switch is adjusted properly, it is also possible that you could have a flaw in your signal light switch.

I've tried adjusting the brake light switch but no luck. I'll give it another shot. Whenever I left off the brake, the pedal falls about 1/8" but it doesn't leave the contact of the brake light switch.

Also yes, I do have something going on with my signal light switch. My right blinker works, but not my left, I wonder if it's related.

Thanks for the reply

probably, they run thru that switch

can you unplug the column connector and see if that helps

or fiddle with the TSig lever and see if the brake lights go on/off...

I have '65 88 parts cars.

I will give that a try. I know lifting the pedal with my tow off the brake switch shuts the lights off. But sometimes just the weight of the pedal turns the brake lights back on.

I think you just answered your own question, it is in the switch adjustment.
