Booster color 70 S

Booster color 70 S

I've seen gold black silver and mine, kinda rusty, Any idea what factory color should be? 350 2bbl 1970 cutlass

I also have a 1970 Cutlass S 350 2bbl with the original booster. Below are a couple pics of mine before restoration: pretty tarnished/rusted, but the areas that were "protected" from the elements (master cylinder attach, firewall attach) looked to be that zinc dichromate (gold) plating. The last picture shows it after replating.

That looks very nice where did you get yours done and what was the process called ? Maybe someone up here does the same thing. cheerio

I sent mine to a guy in California: Steve Gregori of BrakeBoosters.com. He rebuilds the booster as well as replating it, the master cylinder cover, and the proportioning valve bracket. I think a number of people on this forum have sent their boosters to him. You might check with him about shipping charges, it might not be too bad if you can't find a local service. isn't it technically cadmium plating and they do make paints that you can buy that do a decent job of imitating the color (three can process - YearOne has it), it tends to have a greenish sometime redish tint to it. Though I tested a few metallic golds on my jack post and from two feet away you would think it was re-plated.
