Bench bleeding 72 original type master cylinder

The one with the two bleeder screws on the master...

So can I bolt it in the car, connect the brake lines, fill with fluid, run short hoses from those screws back into the master, pump a few times, then bleed the brakes as normal?

I assume the purpose of those screws were to allow on the car bench bleeding to save time on the assy line?

Rob, I've always heard you need to bench bleed it due to the angle it sits on the firewall. That you may not get all the air out if you mount it on the car first. I have jacked up the rear of the car to make it more level and bled it that way It seemed to work fine. What do others have to say? John

If I had a vice? I would fill half way and work it over in the vice.

Bummer - I hate bench bleeding.... I do not have a vice, either.

WHY did GM always mount the master cylinders at such goofy angles anyway???? They did it for over 30 years!!!

You can do this without a vice. make a jig out of scrap 2x4 wood to keep it upright then brace against the garage wall. works just fine.
