62 super 88
does anyone know where I can find emergency cables to to fit my 62 super 88 and what is involved in changing brake booster and master cylinder and portioning valves I would like to up grade my system to a newer style so that i will have brakes if one line brakes. Thanks for the help Eric

I put on a Corvette dual master cylinder on my 63 Starfire but braking turned out not so good. It will lock up all fours even quicker with almost no pedal travel left. The MC is just not made for drum brakes. Quite hairy in highway panic stop situations. I would suggest keeping the stock system or switch to disk brakes, which is what I am doing, but alot more involved and 15" wheels needed.
What are emergency cables?

aah I get it! I do know that this store makes all types of cables, but I have never used them.

As for disk brakes I am using brackets by Scarebird, but I got horribly ripped off by him. I ordered and paid front and rear brakes, but only got the fronts. So I would advice not getting his parts. On the other hand, quality is good, and there is not much choice in disk brakes for 60-64 Olds. I have not completed the install, so can't tell how well it works.

As has already been indicated, going to disc brakes on a 62 also requires going to 15" wheels, which also requires going to non-OEM hubcaps, which also requires ...; welll, you get the idea.
The dual MC seems like that should not be that difficult. I know of having been done on mid-50's Caddys, so see no reason why it could not be done of 60's era Olds? That is a mod I would consider for my ride.

62 Starfire trim on super 88
I recently bought a 62 super 88 but it came with starfire trim. Was it common for the factory to put Starfire trim on a Super 88 Holiday Coupe? (Model # 3547)
Does anyone have any idea how to find a picture of my model? I have done research and have yet to find one. I need to know what I am missing on the back end for trim and emblems.

First, you should start your own thread instead of glomming onto one that's two years old.
Second, getting an image of what your car should look like should be easy. You can see several '62 dealer brochures here:
http://www.oldcarbrochures.org/NA/Ol...962-Oldsmobile
You can also do a google image search and turn up dozens of photos. You don't state what body style your car is.
Just as some examples, here's a '62 Super 88 4-door hardtop.
Here's a 4-door sedan.
Here's a convertible.
As far as was it common to put Starfire trim on a Super 88, I would guess not, and certainly not by the factory. In fact, I doubt it ever happened at all except in maybe rare cases where an employee or Olds executive had a one-off version made for themselves. Otherwise, Oldsmobile's argument would be that, if you want Starfire trim, buy a Starfire.
I would say it's more likely that, sometime over the last 53 years, a prior owner had some fun.
