57 olds brake issue
#2
Pump the brakes a bunch of times with the engine off. If the pedal sinks when you start the car, it is a good indication its working. If not, check the vacuum reservoir can first for leaks. Not sure if 57 has one, but the 56's do. Its kind of looks like a muffler tucked inside the driver side frame rail... A buddy of mine bypassed his by putting a vacuum t in the line (from the base of the carb) before the check valve, then running the hose that goes to that tank from the booster to that t. He has good brakes now... Or you can simply put a vacuum pump on your tank and see it if holds vacuum... Good luck

You may have a faulty vacuum check valve, a leaking vacuum resevoir tank, or collapsed hoses. My bet is on a bad resevoir tank. Moisture probably collected on the bottom and started rotting the metal away. Hook a vacuum gauge to it and just see if it holds vacuum
