What was the original finish on stainless moldings circa 1967?

I've found a lot of posts on how to mirror polish the stainless molding and trim used on the 60's cars. My question is, was this the factory appearance when new? I was pretty young back then, but I seem to remember more of matte or satin finish on these parts. The few photos I've found aren't very useful either.

Input appreciated.

It was shiny.

No part of the car was ever "mirror-finish," from the factory, though, not even the mirrors.
