Help removing 1966-67 drip rail trim
Help removing 1966-67 drip rail trim
Well, I've used the church key with electrical tape on it to remove stainless on 1968-72 cars and that works real well. But that's stainless and it looks like 66-67 used anodized aluminum. I've tried the church key and it isn't working so well. Anybody out there who's sucessfully removed their trim? What was the tool or process you used to do it?

I did it using a piece of 1x3 pine and a mallet from inside the car. Put the wood against the underside edge of the the molding and tap it lightly, as straight out as possible, moving slowly from one end to the other. Don't hurry, doing a little at at time will keep you from kinking the soft trim.
This was on a 67 442 hardtop.

Oh yeah, if you mess it up don't worry too much. Repro moldings are available from the Parts Place & others.
I got mine off just fine...
then the guy who installed the new vinyl top dented them all to sh*t putting them back on.
