So when i bought this car the owner told me this car was side swiped at a grocery store and honestly it could be worse, but i wanted to know is there any product out there or certain technique to take dents out of doors like the pictures enclosed? And if so will the paint come off in the process leaving it susceptible to rust? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Oh and maybe any tips about rust removal? and things of that nature, because i love this car and want to fully restore it :0

 

How clean are the doors? Unless they are spotless from the questions you asked I would look for a couple of replacements if I were you. The damage is not severe, but will require a fair amount of massaging so to speak. You may want to check out a few auto body forums otherwise, there is some pretty good information on them, and you tube has some videos that demonstrate auto body technique. Keep in mind prep is everything. A good prep job CAN minimize a bad paint job, but a great paint job will never mask a poor prep job. Take your time. Beyond that the best way to learn is by doing. read up, watch the pros, then go for it. Good luck

 

thanks for the advice, ill do it, and right now im calling around some shops ands asking prices and even some friends of mine do this so im trying to gauge the difficulty of this work if its too much ill have it done professionally or just get a door from the salvage yards

 

It should not be too difficult to do if you are willing to take the time. most of body work is common sense and patients. Welding in patches require a bit more skill, and whole panels...well that takes some more. In a nut shell you want to get at the backside of the panel if possible and work your low spots up, and simultaneously bring your high spots down. there are a couple ways of doing it on or off dolly hammering. You can also use a set of pics, but I have not seen them outside of a production shop. Do you have access to body hammers or dollys? or the better question is what equipment do you have available to you?
