When door skins were installed at the factory...
Buddy and I were discussing door skins today. He says when the skins were bent over the inner door frame with the air hammer they were also spot welded. I don't think they were. Between the sealer and the air hammer I don't see the need.

Your buddy is right. There's about a half dozen spotwelds around the perimeter. Without the welds, the skin will allow the shell to flex. If you ever install a skin, install the door after the new skin is installed and you would be surprised how much the skin can move and the door can twist. After the door s fitting the car correctly, a few tack or spot welds tightens it up.

All the doors i have skinned normally have spot welds in the top corners i have only seen a couple that spot welds on the sides and few with no spot welds. All doors are glued then folded together

They did have spotwelds but if you want to install one now you can use a door skin bonding adhesive and it won't be necessary to spotweld the perimiter. In fact we don't as it is just another place that you are burning off corrosion protection.
