What’s Missing?

Hi,
What am I missing from the window channel? Somewhere down the line my roof rail weatherstrip was cut so I’ll replace that. Does that just run down the interior side of the quarter opening? How does that part of the weatherstrip affix to that spot? I marked the picture in question. The same for the exterior side of the glass. What’s missing there and how does it attach?

Is it just the roof rail weather strip that continues down? Mine is cut short in error. How does it attach to this section?

What is missing here? Name of the part?

Plastic trim molding. Similar to the inside molding at windshield.
sorry I don’t have a picture.

No - what you're missing is a rubber "strip" that slips on/clips on to that vertical metal flange shown in your pic.

One for each quarter glass. They're rubber made in a certain profile and they have an integral metal strip/core that has slip on tabs formed into the metal part so it can be pushed onto that vertical metal flange and stay in place.

I don't have any to take pics of. Most folks aren't aware of these rubber strips as they can remain in place, etc when a car is painted. May be able to source some here but you're better off finding a pair from a northern car as the rubber can get hardened up down here with the decades of heat and sun.

I don't know the formal name of these.

Thanks. That confirms what I was thinking. I found another forum post referencing something similar. I was able to find the outside pieces from Fusick which apparently are held in by screws. I also a found an inside seal which is the rubber with the clips you mention. It was a SoffSeal brand which are for Buick’s and Chevelle’s but I’m told can also be made to fit the Cutlass. I’ll give it a shot, I just knew it didn’t look right and something was missing.

Yes - the Buick/Chevy pieces should work since they have a similar vertical rear part of the opening for the quarter glass. Cutlass "S" style bodies don't use these since the quarter glass comes to a "point" at the back and the inner window sweeper and roofrail weatherstrips also do the same (but for the glass b/n them).
