Custom Cruisers did NOT use the same fenders. All the 1977-1990 B-body wagons use the Chevrolet sheet metal from the firewall back. That means that the doors on the Custom Cruisers don't have the feature line that the B/C body sedans have. Sedan front fenders do not interchange with Custom Cruiser fenders - those are unique to the wagons.

The hood, front bumper, and header panel are the same, but the fenders are different.

JP's Oldsmobile lobe in his brain is much bigger than everyone else's so go with what he says...rumor has it that his hats need to be special-ordered (from Lansing) to accommodate the skull deformity due to his oversized Oldsmobile lobe.
