Steel Hood

Hey Guys,

Anyone know of a company that has steel replacement hoods? I've seen the fiberglass aftermarket but I would prefer to stay with the steel. Hood is rusting in several spots, figured if I could get my hands on a replacement rather than paying the labor to repair, it would be cost effective. I've got a couple of salvage yards checking for me but wanted to try here too.

Pretty sure there isnt a company makin them. I looked everywhere for one a while back and couldnt find any. i just ended up buying an old one and having it repaired. Not sure why no one makes them, i personally would much rather have a steel hood than a fiberglass one.

No one makes them because demand is low and tooling costs are high.

There has been a couple hoods for sale on my local cl for about two years. The price isn't too high ~$100, but there still on there. A hood maybe the easiest sheet metal to find used in reasonable shape

The 66-69 hoods have a propensity to rust on the leading edge, so any used sheetmetal has to be checked very carefully
