Is the roof worth saving?

Not sure if you can see these pictures. I'm still very green when it comes to restoring a vehicle but am having fun learning along the way. Any body guys have some recomendations for this roof, i.e. repair it, cut it and make a convertible (I really don't want to do that) replace it (does anyone have a spare they can ship or let me pick up close to California). I'm all ears and not in a big rush, the engine is just about done and about to move on to the next phase in a few months. Thanks it's a 1969 supreme 87 body style holiday coupe.

Wow, and I thought my 442 roof was bad. Essentially, you're going to want to reskin the roof. Not only will this save you the hassle of contouring any patches you might otherwise have placed in there, but you'll also be able to clean up and POR 15 your braces so save it from any more rust.

You might want to give Desert Valley Auto Parts a call. www.dvap.com Also, check on Craigslist in AZ and CA. You might be able to find an otherwise trashed body with a good roof you can cut off for less money.

I'm pretty sure they have a decent body out there where you can take the roof off.

I've watched plenty of DVDs & videos on reskinning a roof, and it's not as bad as it seems.

Hey man, this might be the way to go. I'd give him a ring.

i was gonna say............ if the roof is that bad, i can image what the rest of it looks like. find a better car, and save a lot more time and money down the road.

I'd just buy another, and chop that rotten one into ribbons for extra parts. Keep all of the original options, and tag and title in case you find a nice shell in a salvage yard someday.

A repro roof skin is now available for the 68-72 Holiday and Sport Coupes. Yet another benefit of commonality with the Chevelle. About $350 from Tamraz, Parts Place, etc. Ignore the statement that it does not fit Supremes, since they obviously can't tell the difference between a 68-69 Supreme with the "87" body style and the 70-72 Supreme with the "57" body style.

Thanks guys but I just hit another speed bump on the engine rebuild so the body will have to wait even longer. Both heads are cracked right between the valves!!! arrrggghh, drove down to Mondellos yesterday I'm not enthusiastic about the price for a set of core#5's but the no shipping and in my hand that day kind of balance out.
