Reproduction decklids

I did a search and cant find anything, has anyone actually bought and installed a new decklid? I need one for my 70 S..i cant find a used one, but not trying real hard..pics?

Well, they are there as repops. FYI, the 70-72 Cutlass Fastback models all used the same trunk. It is DIFFERENT than the one on a Convertible or 4 door sedan.

Fusick has them
TL702S Trunk Lid 1970-72 Cutlass S, 442 Coupes 369.00

So does Parts Place Inc

You just have to know where to look. If these are too much $$, check with the Parts For Sale section of this forum. Right now, One member 1001Coins has a 70 post car trunk lid for sale. It has some rust on the inside, but it's OEM.

Well..yes its very helpful, ...I guess i didnt word it right, but i was thinking about a reproduction, if they fit..

Has anyone one had first hand experience installing one? do they fit, hows the quality.

Purchased mine from fusick the fit was pretty good the corners were not perfect but I am happy. Check out my thread under major builds for pictures.

I think it's always someones worst fears about buying repop parts - will they fit right? Sometimes they are very good, but most of them have a little bit of aberation from OEM I think because they don't actually have the stamping tools from the day. Most of the repops now a days are very decent quality.

One of the members of this site 70Post (Patton Glade) restores Olds Cutlass 442's. He would be a great source of information for you. Send him a PM and explain what your concerns are about buying a repop rear deck in regards to fitment.

yeah, i saw that...i'm not sure i wantr to buy something long distance without being able to see it first hand...

Brothers is 20 minutes from me, maybe I'll go see them and ask questions and try to see one..

FWIW - DO NOT HAND OVER ANY CASH or CC no. to Brothers w/o having the part in hand to go home with . Horror stories for years about these guy's taking payment on parts they don't have and making buyers wait indefinitely for them ....

I've been burned by them 2X. I NEVER refer anyone to BAP. Unfortunate. And when I called them and tried to explain the problem, they were less than friendly and started a 'blaming' tirade of how they never make mistakes. They went so far as to infer 3rd hand information into the conversation as if it was first hand gospel. I wouldn't accept anything from BAP after that if they gave it to me for no charge. They blew it big time. There's a saying: You don't have a second chance to make a first impression. My first impression and lasting impression isn't positive.
