looking for some tips

Looking for the best way to weld on a new quarter panel, would you recommend straight butt welding it, 45 bending it and weld etc.

this is what I'm working with so far

Butt weld with as tight a fit as possible is by far the best choice. Flange overlaps will lead to problems. I've seen too many cars where that flange joint telegraphed through the paint when the car was parked in the sun.

Personally, I've done both and haven't had an issue with either one. Some people swear by each one so I guess it's preference. As Joe said, I think butt welding is nicer if done properly but can be more difficult. I guess it depends on your welding expertise if doing it yourself. I guess the biggest issue is heat (warpage) and making sure the gap is correct. Probably youtube it to get some ideas. Good luck with the project!

Butt weld if you feel you have the welding experience. That is about what I am going to do with my 69.

I really like Wray Schelin's videos. You might find this one applicable to this thread.
