If you are happy it was a good trade. I hope it turns out well.

X2

My only issue would be time frame. No finish car, no truck; period. If he already has the truck then you and him should get together on the time frame ASAP, with consideration that he does have to run a business as well but I have heard some pretty nasty stories along these same lines.

Probably ought to get something in writing even if he is a friend or family. As I stated before these type deals can get ugly fast. And I would just tell him that this would be to protect us both......

X2 on the get it in writing. Years ago I left some motorcycle parts with a friend at a bike shop to sell on consignment. The guy said he needed to write it up and I told him I trusted him. His answer was this;

“Trust is fine, but if I get killed in a traffic accident on the way home tonight you're going to go through Hell dealing with the estate lawyers.”

I realized how good of a friend he really was.

Is the individual doing the bodywork any where near you?, why don't you stop in, un-announced, and see what progress has been made on your car so far.

Just so long as you understand that deals like this can take years to complete.

He's got the truck and he's got no timeframe for completing the car.
Expect him to take a l o n g time.

x3. As long as you are happy with it, then it is a good trade! I'm thinking about getting a sunroof installed in my 1991 Civic even tho it will cost me more than the car is worth lol but I want a sunroof and I love the car and will probably have it for a while so for me it is worth it even if other people think I'm an idiot for doing it I'm not doing it for them I'm doing it for me because it's what I want on my car can't please everybody lol sorry about the lack of punctuation.. english was always my worst subject
