Dual Sport Mirrors

Hey guys,, Just wondering what year dual sports will fit a 71' 442? Anybody bought some that needed some small modifications to make them work of another car? I have some "you pull it' junk yards around and want to know what ones I can look for..

Thanks fellas.....

Sport mirrors at least up through '77 are pretty much the same. As for mtg, be aware that the plastic pedestal base mtg gaskets have different profiles to accommodate the contour of each model door style. It's often minor, but can become a nuisance for viewing on the passenger side if that mirror is the non-adjustable style. One more thing to keep in mind if you currently have chromed mirrors and aren't planning on painting the car...the mtg base of the sport mirrors is usually shorter and narrower so, you might have an issue with hiding any differences in paint fade between what's been under your existing mirror base and the rest of the door.

Sorry, they are not the same. The pedestal mounts for 70-72 are the same, although the 1970 sport mirror is a one year only production. After 1972 the profile of the pedestal changed to match the new colonnade door profile. You can look up the different part numbers in the OLDS Parts Manual - Group 10.185 - they are the same for 71-72 and different for other years. Repro base gaskets are readily available.

70-82 camaro firebird uses the same mirror as 71-72 cutlass 442. The gasket that goes between the door and mirror are different, but are reproduced. 75 and up have the passenger side convex glass with Objects in the mirror are closer then they appear. Which isn't correct but is useful.

I stand corrected...sorry about that. Was thinking beyond what was correct and what could be made to work. Sounds like the Camaro/Firebird option would be easier to come by in a U Pull yard.

Great guys....Thanks.... I picked up a set off a 77 Nova but the angle is way off. At lease a 1/4"... I may try to sand them with a belt sander and find a different gasket..... Or,, just look for some Camaro mirrors...
