My memory could be playing tricks, but I believe all of that is in the Fisher Body Manual.

You make those adjustments by loosening the 3 bolts on the door side of the hinge brackets. There's a floating adjustment plate inside the door that allows these adjustments. Here's a link to Eddie; he's a bodyman by trade and will be able to give you expert advice. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...=newpm&u=37821

Eric - the Fisher Body Manual doesn't have that info in it. It shows door components, but not the adjustment procedures.

Hee hee hee, gotcha to look it up didn't I?? You are the best! I didn't have any of those tools when I replaced the doors on a 74 Impala. Got it to work by playing with the adjustments - just had to figure them out by myself without a helper too!

You don't need those specific tools - any weird shaped wrenches will do it.

Hey, Eric
Since I'm now using Google Chrome, I still haven't figured out how to copy images from a pdf and insert them. Used to be able to when I had IE (I know - bad thing to say) Any tips Mac boy?

I don't use a browser for that.

I use Preview, which is the built-in Mac viewer / editor for all image file formats.

For pulling pieces from images, including un-downloadable images, I use Grab, another built-in Mac program, which allows me to highlight the part that I want and just grab it.

I have no idea what PC people do.

... But I pity them.

Just set up a free account with photo bucket at photobucket.com from there you just upload the pictures you want, then it gives you a code which you copy and paste it and it shows up nice and large like this.

deer2.jpg

works great and you dont have to download anything

Don't forget your Cherman BMdubya...

Eric, did you hear the latest news on the stock market? New company in the USA called Villmartel is poised to take a chunk of market share away from APPLE? They call their new laptop the Bytemi. It's to the Mac people world like windows 7 is to Vista. The clone of Mac has arrived and is called the Gala.

If you asking me, no i havent had time.. they need some adjustment but the majority of my problem was because my front fender was out to far making it look like the door was sunk in. im sure you know but at the bottom on the back side of th fender is a bolt or two that keeps everything snugged down.. just loosend the bolt(S) pushed in on the fender so it was level with he door and tightned it down.

But the doors still need some tweaking, dose anyone know if ihave to take the font fender/panel off? im pretty sure i just have to loosen it..

more research it is

Where does the door need lining up? Both the back of the door and the door post have plates that move if you loosen the bolts. The plates in the post allow you to line up the door in the up and down positions and the plates in the door allow you to line it up with the fender and rear quarter. If you push the upper part of the door plate in, it will make the lower corner towards the quarter panel come out. And same with the bottom door plate. You push it in and the upper part of the door towards the quarter comes out. And this works in the opposite direction, too.

Another thing I've always done is not loosen the bolts off too much. If you just unsnug them, you can add a little extra force and the door will move. But when you close it to see if everything is lined up, it doesn't move. If you loosen the bolts too much, the door will move when you open it after you've tested it. That really sucks when you finally have it lined up and the door moves when you open it so you can tighten the bolts back up.
