By the seat belt retractor locations.

 

Dang, that looks nasty. I would think that's a very important area. I've never seen that. As luck would have it mine was as clean as a whistle.

 

It didn't look that bad at first but once we dug into it it grew. The hole is where the seat belt retractor bolts down.

 

Mine was like that I cleaned fabbed welded and reinforced.

 

Looks like the rocker was spared. Glass half full.

 

Yeah, they appear to be ok. Overall it is not as bad as I had expected, especially after reading all of the stories of rust belt cars.

 

I'm dealing with the same issue. I don't like patching so I plan to replace with the largest panel possible. I'm picky. My own personal hell. I just drove to West Virginia to buy a full truck pan. A must for me. In the real world as long as it's stable who cares.

 

I had the same happen on my 68. Luckily the brace was okay so I fabricated a patch and welded it in. Since it was the floor and not easily seen I wasn't worried about it looking perfect.
