I bought my car with all of the trunk floor, outer wheel house, quarter panels and part of the inner wheel house already cut out. So where do I begin? I am saving up enough money to buy one part at a time so I don't want to buy a part that I can't put in yet because something else has to go in first. Does the inner wheelhouse go in first and the the trunk butts up to it or does the trunk floor have to go in first and the inner wheelhouse sits partially on top of it? I would think the inner wheelhouse goes in first but since I didn't see it when it was together I want to double check.

 

You have some guts jumping into a big project like this. the guy u bought it from doesnt have any of the replacement sheet metal? it does look like he started to do it then quit. i would save money and save money the more sheet metal you buy at once will save u money on shiping. i would at least by the inner wheel house and trunk pans around the same time. then go from there. or buy the pans and dont weld them in until u buy the inners. u need them all there then put them together. quarters can probably come last.

 

You are going to need the inner and outer wheel housing, trunk floor kit and also both trunk drop downs which connect between the trunk floor and quarter panel. You are also going to need both quarters. I replaced all of these about 3 years ago and the price of the the sheet metal at that time was less than 1,000. I bought them from Tamraz. But if I were you I would also pull that back glass because it looks like you might have some rust around the window channels

 

The guy I bought it from was going to tub it out so he wasn't going to use aftermarket parts. So it sounds like I need to have the trunk pans and inner wheelhouse in place all at once. I assume there needs to be some "adjustments" when doing this? While we are on this topic, How do i make sure that everything goes in straight? The whole body is "tweeked" due to one side of the trunk still being attached to the body mount and the other side not. I was thinking of I push up on one side of the frame with a jack until the body lines on the trunk lid are even then I should be OK. I am not sure what it is going to do when I cut the other side away from the body mount.

I have watched them over and over, because eventually I'm going to have to cut my car up like yours is. And I've never done this type of work before, but I'm sure I can do it. i would look in to that ^ or if u know any one that lives around u with the same kind of car 68-72 i imagine and see if u can get some measurments and if u know any of the auto body guys that live around you that might be able to stop by and give u some pointers. if u can wait tell u can get all the sheet metal that u need. then u can try it ur way with the jack if u think that way will work.
