72 sport mirrors

My driver side mirror has been loose for about the past decade. I screw around with it every once and I while to try and get it snug to the door never happens I get pissed and leave it alone for a while. So here I am again. What the hell do I have to do to get this thing snug!!! I've tried bending the front tang every which way to grab the front and hold it down but it's always loose! So I thought ok If I bump the side with the screw on it out a little bit it would push the front in. Still no Joy! Can you purchase just the bracket that's between the mirror and door?

Parts Place has the bracket. I used the brackets on my 71, seemed to work ok. Been on for a couple of months.
