64 cutlass trim removal

Any tips on removing the side body trim on a 1964 Cutlass?
I have a variety of plastic wedges and pry tools but I'm wondering if there is a known good way to do this without damaging anything

I need to pull the eyebrows around the headlights and the script on the hood but I think those all bolt on from behind.

You might want to open up the 1964 Service Manual book 5 to page 16-364. That's where the section on exterior trim starts. There are also four pages of tables of the specific fastener types used on each piece of trim. Page 15-109 in the same book shows the front fender trim, which is held by nuts on the backside.

FYI the studs on the hood letters are prone to snapping due to corrosion, at least up north here.... Lube the nuts up and go slow turning a bit back and forth if the nut gets tight.

Unfortunately you are correct. Well in my case some of the pins on the letters were just rusted away. Also the bottom of my hood is way worse than I thought. I’m going to look for a round knock-out and see if anyone makes a oval one id so I could try to remake this inner piece

i dont know. I’ll need to come up with something

I got all of the rest of the trim off this morning and the “eyebrows” over the headlights were both cracked in half.

The plastic wedges
worked perfectly on the side moulding pieces.

I mean other than “that” the hood is in good shape. I really don’t want to try to find one.
