Hello everyone,
This is my first post. As the title says I have 1970 convertible and am adding an OAI hood. I am trying to figure out the stripe situation so I can get it painted. Did all OAI hoods come with stripes? Or could they be ordered in solid body color?
Thanks Tuckman5000.
That raises another question. For a convertible with the W25 OAI with stripes would it be appropriate to have the bright work trim along the side from side marker to side marker? Or a painted stripe? Or no trim?
Here is a pic of my cutlass by the way.
Hi Adam, I think your car looks awesome as is That being said the w25 hood is a nice addition but do you want a 442 replica or maybe an SX copy? (I know The SX didn’t come with the w25 hood) I bought a 70 w30 replica with plans to change it back to a cutlass but then realized how expensive that would be. My car has a 71 dark sable paint with gold stripes but I love the color of your car. Is that burnished gold or nugget gold. Do you have a paint code? Also go to my albums to see my hood and stripes on a 70 c/s for reference. Alan

Thanks Alan. The car is at the paint shop right now. I decided on solid black and keeping the CS trim minus the Cutlass script on the fenders. Everything else will be going back on the car. I had thought about doing a 442 clone but decided that was an expense I didn't really want yet. If I change my mind in a few years it wont be very hard to remove the trim and add the stripes and badges.
