1971-72 Metal Supreme Grilles

I recently was able to acquire these grilles and was planning on repaint. First stage of prep sanding grinding to the metal. I really like the look of the bare metal polished raw gun metal look. You guys think I would need to treat this with something to keep this look or leave as is? Wondering will it will rust untreated? Of course I would further polish these but I'm loving the look of these.

That's 71 Supreme grill. 72 was plastic.

I refinished mine by spraying with Krylon Dull Aluminum rattle can, then hand painting the black inserts with a small model paint brush.

Looks great very detailed. I like the color too but wondering if the raw metal will hold without painting.

I did mine as Ken did, yeah it is a lot of work- bring inside and do at table. The unpainted grille wont rust but it will corrode.
