I had the same problem. My car came with the steel hood with the faux louvers. But, last spring I found a real GM W25 hood. It didn't come with the chrome that sits next to the windshield because the previous owner used it on an aftermarket hood he bought for his car.
The reason he bought a new hood is because this one had some damage in the left front corner. Anyways, to make a long story short, my chrome didn't fit. I had to stick a wooden wedge in between and slowly widen it a little bit. Then I put it on the hood and tapped the chrome on with a wooden block. Slowly it went on and then I kept installing and removing it so it would work it's way in place. Now it fits great.
Kind of a crude way of doing it, but it worked and I didn't dent the chrome.
