I am putting the car back together after pulling the core support to replace the engine and trans. This thing is looking like a jigsaw puzzle. Do I have the core support bushings installed correctly? If so, as I try to get the fender/door gap where I want it I have a huge space at the core support I will have to shim.
Yes, that does look right for the core support bushings. Some did have spacers on the bushings to help get the gap right at the door. They were big square plates with a slot and sat on the square bushing.

I replaced all my body mounts back in '18. I bought the kit from Inline plus their "correct" core support bushings (which were extra). I noticed right away that Inline's core support bushings, while nicely made, were a little thinner than my originals. My 442 had no core support shims from the factory, so that's the way I started with the new bushings, but when I went to tighten the core support it opened up some terrible gaps, especially between the hood & the front of the fenders. Lucky for me my local Napa had body shims in stock in both 1/16" & 1/8". I bought some of each & after some trial & error I got everything lined up nicely again. Shims are shown in the assembly manual if needed.
