Bumper filler option

I was conducting an inventory of parts i acquired 20 years ago for my 1969 442 restoration and came across some bumper fillers. Were these an option on the 442 or just the Cutlass? What are the pros and cons of installing them? Thanks in advance.

If you are talking about the rubber fillers that go in the ends of the bumpers, they are not an "option", they were installed on every single car that left the factory. If you are talking about the rubber strip on the back bumper, that was an option under RPO VE1.

You can insert the rubber fillers w/o removing the bumper. Tip: Employ water, a little soap, oil, Vaseline, or whatever into the filler or onto the bumper and work the rubber filler from the center>outwards i.e. start in the center.

Actually, it's not a good idea to use a petroleum product on rubber, as the rubber can deteriorate. Silicone grease is a better choice.
