B85

How can you tell if you have a B85 package? I just learned a little about this because my new weather stripping came in and the chrome/stainless is totally different. What I received was a "bead" and what I have is like a 1/4" strip along the door. Nothing I found in my documention mentioned B85.

What car? What documentation? Who told you that a B85 package was involved?

The bead is correct. The 1/4" strip are the cheap-o aftermarket fuzzies. Neither is RPO B85.

RPO B85 ia about a 1" wide anodized aluminum trip part on the outside of the fuzzies. Note the piece on the outside of the quarter window on this car.

Sorry, 72 Cutlass Supreme Convertible. The guy at PUI said it was the only reason why the car would have different style weather stripping. I have all of my dad's documentation when he bought the car, except the BoS.

The car does have stainless/chrome on the wheel wells, rockers, fender, door, and quarters. Looks to be all OEM. Of course out of all the cars my dad had, this is the only one he didn't take pictures of new. Every picture taken was "work in progress".

Thanks guys, so no one makes the weather stripping like the OEM? That is what I ordered so I assume that is what I was going to get. If you look at the picture attached above that is what I currently have, I assume OEM. What I received was a small round bead.

What I have is on top, I assume OEM. What I received is on bottom.

Just a note about B85 moldings. They were offered on all Cutlass models (hardtop and post) except as noted for the vert. These moldings are not stainless steel, they are anodized aluminum so they will NOT just refinish like stainless trim. It means a trip to the plater. The B85 for the HT coupes is the same, but the back moldings are obviously different. The picture Joe posted shows the fastback design, which is much harder to find the molding for.

The B85 fuzzies are reproduced.
