72 sport mirrors

Hello, guys I have a question about some sport mirrors. A friend gave me some sport mirrors from a 74 Monte Carlo and I installed them and they look like the correct fit, angle etc. I have noticed that the original mirrors have a Phillips head screw at the base but are the mirrors same in size? Could the 74 mirrors correct size just don’t have the screw. I also compare the some mirrors to an 81 olds cutlass and try looking the same.
My question is> What’s the difference between mirrors? Would other mirrors fit like 70 skylarks (looks like the same mirror with screw) need help before paint.

Just did not want to spend 175 bucks on mirrors if I don’t have to

Thanks

The main differences I've seen are the height of the base and angle of where it mounts to the door. Because of those the bullet portion of some mirrors will not be level or may even hit the door glass on a 1971-72 Cutlass/442 door.

Just wondering if you ever got any info on the mirror differences? The sport mirrors on my '72 are so small I'm wondering if they are correct...

I tried taking pictures of my sport mirrors on my 72. Unfortunately, I can't tell you if there were original or not. That and my phone seems to make my car look purple and really points out how dirty all my windows are.

Those look bigger than mine....the glass is so small on mine they're barely useful at all. I wonder what I have on mine....

Thanks for the pic.

joffroi urs are correct.

in this picture u can see the screw to hold it to the bracket other models dont have this. they just have studs that bolt to the car.

also the drivers side remote cord is about a foot longer. thats how u can tell if urs are olds correct.

and as 2blu said the base is a little longer. the head of the mirror might be a little bigger but i think the mirror glass is the same size.

Mirror

Hello guys, thanks for the pics and info. I was at a guys house yesterday who restores early 70s Buicks like GS and GSX skylarks. He had a sets from a 71 GS that looks to be a perfect match. Mount screw, base is smaller looks good.

Have you hard of these mirror being the same?

Thanks

Sport mirrors

Here's a good link that answers many questions about sport mirrors, the differences between GM divisions, which ones fit, which ones don't, etc.
